I always get to focus on something else when too lazy to actually work. Like right now. Lately I've been missing a lot of things from the '90s, I even got a haircut, an ode to the 90s! Just your basic bob, and I wish I had DMs (DMs used to mean Doc Martens, not Direct Message! Haha dba? Good times!) on me and a flannel shirt. I've also been rewatching a lot of classic favorites: Reality Bites, Mallrats, Dazed and Confused...

So I made a highschool mixtape(yes, my favorites from freshman to senior year..mostly stuff from '96 cos that was definitely a good year for music)! I decided not to put in the track list here and I want you to download it, listen to it without looking at the tracks either, ok? :) Look away, do your thing and reminisce! Ang saya ng feeling ng 'uy! I know that song!' and immediately you remember what you were doing when you first or last heard that...was it intrams, or where you swapping literal mixtapes (cassette baby!) with your friends? Haha! Oh memories. Hmm, that is, of course, if we are more or less in the same batch. My age showing in 5, 4, 3, 2....

I made a couple more for you guys but in the meantime, I think I'm pretty much stuck to this one. It was so hard trimming down which ones to put, though. So maybe I'll make another one sometime soon. Let's see.

This one's most especially for you perchance! Haha! Good times! :) Back to work!

So I went to Bangkok for the first time last week!

Manfriend left me to decide which places I wanted to visit so I made an itinerary. I had maps printed out, familiarized myself with Excel so I could make proper time charts and all.

We almost missed our flight out.

Hahahaha. We stepped in the airport oh so casually, went to the check in counter and I just thought they were trying to be super prompt and responsive because they were all 'please help them with their things now!' and manfriend oh so casually walked towards that area where you paid the taxes while I waited ever so calmly at the check-in counter. And then most of the airline staff were panicking, they were all telling the other guys to go get our stuff and run and I was like, what? Why the panic guys, why so stressed? And then common sense came back to me (it must've run out earlier that day) and I checked our tickets. Our flight out was 3.30pm! And it was already 3.25! We were the only passengers the plane was waiting for. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I thought the flight was 5.30pm! (Turns out that was the sked of the flight back.) And so we RAN. RAN, RAN, RAN all the way to the plane and every now and then I had to stop cos I was wearing very lady like flats, not suitable for running (and plus I am not suitable for running haha). When we got to the plane everyone was like 'thank god' and were giving us nasty looks. So after much panting, tired from the run, we slept the entire flight instead.

When we got there it was raining.Collapse )

I want to share this with you. Please read it? :)

I'm very excited about finally getting to go to Bangkok next weekend. I've been planning our itinerary, looking at tons of blogs, Lonely Planet and that Trip Advisor app for iPad is awesome, I must say. Do you have any suggestions for my Bangkok trip? I'd love to hear what you liked when you were there. :)

PMS days are here again, and when I start feeling all crummy I hope to be awesome, just like Barney Stinson.

I finally got to have lunch with mom yesterday, I haven't seen in her in a month or so. And she finally saw the the new tattoo and well she made a face but that was about it. So since I was already in QC, I decided to go around and run the errands I was supposed to do the following day, like have my business cards printed (it's lovely btw, yay!). Then, just like old times, paperdull and I wandered around UP, bought dalandan and melon shakes and twister fries and sat on a fallen tree in front of the baseball field and talked and watched the sun set. Very romantic, no? Haha.

Then we visited our playmates, 11 year old Ada and 5 year old Ash and baby Kumi. And then we went to visit Rovi, who was busy finishing paintings for an upcoming exhibit. I like Rovi's world a lot. He has a bamboo clad studio with white walls and his lovely paintings drying, waiting to be finished. He bought all the lamps we wanted, it's all there in his studio. He has big windows that go from the floor to the ceiling, and if you just happened to be walking outside and looked up to the room, you would know something lovely was brewing inside. We had pots of tea as well, and he brought out his ukulele and we tried to play the limited number of songs we knew. Then it started pouring, really hard. We thought it was time to go home, but decided to sit still til the rain wasn't too strong but it turns out it was just the beginning. Was glad to be wearing my rain boots. So we tried to go outside, water almost knee deep and just as we got outside the gate, it turns out Rovi's house was beside a creek and I saw how fast the water was rising so we ran back inside the house. There we were, all three of us in the bathroom, washing our feet with soap and water, just like those Safeguard commercials I saw when I was a kid. We were stranded.

But stranded in the loveliest way. Rovi's lola cooked food for us and we ate it in the studio while watching 'Tangled', which I haven't seen but they loved so much. And I loved it! Not just the movie, but the whole experience of being stranded but being with people you like a lot it just totally negates the supposed negativity of the experience.

And so, I leave you with, lanterns.

There's this Lantern Festival in Nepal that I want to be part of. Maybe next year. :)

Ohmygod how awesome!
The manfriend has yet again lived up to his history of surprising me with awesome presents: a coffeemaker! The bedside table lamp has relinquished its throne. This coffee maker now sits next to my bed, eager to brew at literally my arm's reach! Hahahaha. Thank you, manfriend, you are awesome. :)

Of course I use the mug Dy gave me.

Also, I like this classic photo of me and Ramon.

LightsTonight, tonight
We spent the weekend at Sonya's in Tagaytay again. The food + massage was awesome, as usual.

Oh and on our way back, we finally found that tile factory I've been wanting to check out! I bought a lot of samples, for my future house. Oh future house.
I drool.
Tile love

All these thoughts of my future house has led me to thinking about stability. Either that or maybe because I'm seriously in my late twenties now. I loooove freelancing, but oh no, what if I need a regular job so I can seriously save up for a house one day? Help me out here. Other than these thoughts, I'm calm. But I really, really, really want a house I can call my own. I already have plans for it, how it'll be in front of the beach, my little organic farm at the back, my garage filled with surfboards and longboards, my studio next to the house, a telescope by the deck at night. Le sigh..

Back to what I have (and loving) now:

Yesterday I met up with Tatin. I was commissioned to make portraits of her lovely baby dogs and I enjoyed doing this project so much!
Tatin's Babies!
Cutie baby
I was so excited to give the prints to her that I forgot to take pictures of the finished pieces. I think she likes them! Yay! :) She even gave me an awesome, awesome pencil. She remembered my Little Prince tattoo, the first tattoo I got when I was 19. :p

My new favorite pencil from Tatin!

These have to be framed.
Prints from friends that I have to have framed.

In other news, if you can, please grab a copy of this month's Uno issue, I'm in it! Haha. Sadly, not on the cover. I have to work on that for many more months hahaha (*and the laughing suddenly stops*). But anyway, my illustrations are in it. Thanks, Uno. :D

I'm feeling brand spankin' new today, and happy! I was the opposite the past few days. Was on the verge of getting the flu, had colds, and to make things even better/worse, I got my period. (Sorry, too much information, but I just had to say.)

But today I feel wonderful. Happy in a fast way, is that weird? I have all these ideas and projects in my head and I want to do them all! All! Hahahaha. And I haven't even had coffee yet. Must be all the rest I took when I got sick.

And so it is August. Every year I feel the years shorter, the days faster, slooooow down a bit. I want to savor every moment.

It's been gloomy the past few days, rain and typhoon abound. But good sleep, good food and good conversations are at their peak during these kinds of weather.

Gloomy day

Supposed celebratory lunch with Hannah the other day, but there was a delay. Haha. It's all good.

The past few days have been extremely pleasant, loaded with gifts in material and human forms. I am grateful to the universe. :)

The other day, a lovely breezy Tuesday afternoon to be exact, I got to meet theminordetail in person! I love it when I get to meet online friends in person! (Because most of the friends I make online, especially here in LJ, have been very positive energies in my life.) She is so sweet, she took the time to give me something:

Lovely teas plus a handwritten letter! I haven't received one in ages! One person's kindness can definitely brighten up another person's day. :)

The day after, I got to meet up with two good, good friends. Now that I think of it, it's amazing how close we've become since we all just met November last year. I feel like we've known each other forever!

D is leaving for Singapore, where she'll be roomies with our other friend M, and because D is probably one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet (seriously! She's the sweetest, it's hard not to be friends with her.), she made sure L and I got GOODIE BAGS. (A little backstory: she loves Oprah and Oprah's Favorite Things. She always tries to emulate her, haha, screaming out 'Bringgggg out the cookiessss!!/Or notebookssss!/Or whatever swag she has with her.)

We ate at Le Creperie, it was my first time. I love crepes! Before ordering though, D brings out the first 'batch' off the goodie bag:

Dy's Favooorite Things!
A pouch filled with items that each have their own notes: lip balm, a Cath Kidston journal ('for your calligraphy skillzz that killzzz' daw), and this one, I love (and need):

Dy bestoweth upon me!
The cutest metro because all the other ones they sell at hardware stores refuse to be cute.

Oh and what we ate? Here:
Peach, Mango & Nutella Crepe at Le Creperie
Peach, Mango and Nutella Crepe for D.

Butter, Sugar and Lemon Crepe for me!

Oh. I was busy eating my crepe I forgot to take photos of L's crepe: a delightful Caramel Butter Crepe. Omigod it was soooo good.

Appropriately enough, when the coffee arrived, D brought out these:
The most incredible mugs ever.
The cheesiest and silliest mugs ever, it's genius! Hahahaha. I now laugh every morning when I go get coffee.

Also in the bag, a playlist of movies D is making us watch. I've watched two already, and both have made me cry and laugh and feel good about life. :)
Dy's Movie Playlist
In D style, with notes ensuring positivity.

She gave me this for last:
Aww :)
Your Protector

A Mark Weaver for Fleet Foxes Print. It's for their song 'Your Protector'. Awww I never realized she saw me as that but I'm glad I instinctively am. I will always protect my friends from foreign negative forces and unhappiness!
